when you have completed the documents to make arrangements to meet with him in person.
If you continue with the process, you will be invited to attend the next monthly business meeting (which takes place on the first Monday of the month), at which time you will be introduced to the attendees. Provided that you subsequently attend at least two of the weekly Monday night training sessions that follow, at the next available monthly business meeting the Board of Directors and the Membership will determine whether you are accepted for membership. If you are accepted for membership, you will have probationary status for six months pending satisfactory completion of departmental training and other requirements (such as participation in call responses, as appropriate for your level of knowledge and training).
Following the completion of your probationary period, you will be encouraged to complete structural firefighting qualification training (NFPA Section 1403)1 as soon as possible. You will also be eligible for and encouraged to attend additional state-certified training free of charge in areas such as structural firefighting (in addition to Section 1403), medical response, emergency vehicle driving, rescue technician, and other specialty areas.
1For a list of "1403" courses that are required in order to perform structural firefighting, open this document and look at the second page. All classes with (LB) next to the class title are required to meet NFPA Section 1403.
If you have any questions about becoming a firefighter with New Hope Fire Department that are not addressed above, please contact Deputy Chief Adam Price at
